studio at night
My studio space is partially a design experiment in controlling the incoming and outgoing flow of information/stimulation.
It is a greenhouse-like pavillion located at the Plantage, a lively central neighbourhood just off the touristic area. Thanks to the glass ceiling there is a huge amount of natural light, with the few windows facing an inner court. The space feels very open to weather conditions with practically no visual or auditory contact with the street or the two adjascent studios.
Phones are usually set to silent. Voice messages and records of all incoming calls are re-routed to my e-mail, which gets checked automatically but with adjustable frequency.
Some factors are poorly controllable: light and temperature changes, for instance, and the manic toddlers that twice a day spill onto the inner court from the nearby day care center.
The brats just can't be contained.
